Ask

Can I fly with my guide dog?

Assistance dogs can be carried on all domestic flights within the UK and European flights arriving at airports listed on the Government website.

flybmi has government approval to carry recognised assistance dogs, free of charge, within the aircraft cabin.

You can bring your assistance dog into the UK without quarantine as long as it meets the rules of the EU pet travel scheme.

Recognised assistance animals are qualified by an organisation registered as a member of Assistance Dogs International or the International Guide Dog Federation

flybmi will normally only carry one assistance dog per flight however two may be accepted if they are travelling with a family or group.

There is a special dog harness that passengers can purchase for the flight however if they don’t have one, the Cabin Crew can use an extension seatbelt to slip it through the dog’s lead.

flybmi do not currently carry any other type of assistance animal in the cabin.
Acceptance of carriage is subject to the following criteria:

  • The booking must be made at least 7 days in advance
  • The dog should have a coat or harness identifying them as an assistance dog
