Lublin

Lublin is the largest city in southeastern Poland with a buzzing cultural and university scene. It offers the usual amenities of any city this size, including excellent hotels, restaurants and nightlife. The city is well known for being the main transport hub for road and rail connections for all areas of Poland.

Many travellers visit Lublin for their special interest in History, WWII in particular. The city’s historical core, the Rynek was insult to injury in the communist period and Lublin was forced to industrialisation. Now the Rynek is being restored, and stylish clubs and restaurants are giving a new lease of life to Lublin’s centre Renaissance and Baroque town houses.

For centuries the city was a leading centre of Jewish scholarship, giving it the nickname ‘Jewish Oxford’. This nickname and heritage came to a brutal end in WWII, but here and there you can still find traces.  More recently students flock to the city to learn economics and therefore it has been given a fresh nickname ‘Oxford of the East’, creating an exciting array of new culture and arts.
