Online Check-in

Your customers can check-in for their flight online before they get to the airport, saving them valuable time.

They simply need to print their boarding pass before they leave for the airport, drop any bags at the bmi fast bag drop and go straight to departures.

Online Check-in is available from 24 hours up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time, except for departures from Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, where it closes one hour before departure.

  • Your customer should go to Check-in Online at flybmi.com or directly into the Online Check-in process via the following link: Online Check-in

If your customer is unable to print their boarding pass at the end of the check-in process, they can go to the Check-in Desk, or they can also print their boarding card at the bmi Webpoints located at London Heathrow, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Your customer can use Online Check-in if:

  • They are travelling on a bmi operated route either direct point to point or where bmi operates the first sector of the journey
  • They have booked directly at flybmi.com or via a travel agency
  • The booking is an e-ticket

Your customer will be unable to use Online Check-in if:

  • You have requested special medical requirements etc
  • There are more than nine passengers in the booking
  • Your client holds a paper ticket

Passengers travelling with infants can check-in online, however the appropriate seat with infant facilities will be automatically allocated for them.

The following are bmi operated routes where Online Check-in is NOT currently available

Departures from

Bishkek, Copenhagen, Esbjerg, Freetown, Groningen, Khartoum, Moscow, Zurich.

Please note that although departures from Addis Ababa, Amman, Baku, Beirut, Cairo, Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh and Tbilisi have the option of Online Check-in, no boarding pass will be available for printing, and your client will need to go to the Check-in Desk at the airport to complete the check-in process.

Self Check-in

Self Check-in Machines are available at most bmi airports within the UK and Ireland. They close 30 minutes prior to departure for UK Domestic and Western European shorthaul flights, and 45 minutes prior to departure for all other routes.

All passengers can use this service, regardless of whether they are travelling on a paper ATB ticket or e-ticket.

Economy ticket-holders travelling on a shorthaul route must use either a Self Check-in Machine, where available, or Check-in Online.

Business or Economy Flexible ticket-holders, and Gold or Silver Diamond Club members have the option of using either a Self Check-in Machine or the manned Check-in Desks.

Self Check-in Machines are easy for your clients to use:

  • Retrieve booking by inserting either the
    • ATB ticket
    • The credit card used to make the booking
    • Booking reference and surname
    • Scan of passport
  • The on-screen instructions take your client through the Check-in process and their boarding card and receipt will then be printed
  • If your client is travelling with hand luggage only they can proceed straight to security.
  • If your client has bags to check in then they should proceed to a bmi Fast Bag Drop, where available, or a bmi Check-in Desk.
