Routepass

Routepass is a book of tickets that provides travellers with savings of up to 10% on full business or economy fares on a particular bmi route.

Routepass overview

  • Business or economy travel options are available
  • It can be purchased for use by an individual or a company. (There are no restrictions on the number of employees using the company Routepass).
  • Tickets are fully flexible and offer maximum availability
  • available in books of 10 one-way tickets for an individual or 20 tickets for a company
  • Anyone travelling on a Routepass ticket can access the bmi Business Lounges*
  • tickets are valid for 4 months from the first date of travel
  • A “part-payment” option enables change of route during the the 4 month validity period and a method of using any out of date tickets

Part payment - changing route

Routepass tickets can be used to change the passenger's destination by using them as part payment towards any business fare or the full economy fare on any bmi route.

As a travel agent you can ticket these replacement fares. Please ensure the Routepass tickets are obtained from the passenger and returned to bmi. Any payment should be detailed as an additional charge on the tickets.

Unused tickets

Expired tickets can also be used as part payment for travel with bmi up to 4 months after the expiry date.

Frequent flyer benefits

When a Routepass is purchased for an individual, they automatically receive Silver membership of our frequent flyer programme, Diamond Club. Click here for Diamond Club benefits.

And a company Routepass, five nominated employees qualify for instant Blue membership of Diamond Club, and a credit of 8000 miles to their accounts, enabling them to reach Silver benefits sooner (16000 miles required to reach Silver level).

A special Diamond Club application form is provided with the passenger's Routepass tickets.

*Please note access to the Diamond Club lounges is only available to Gold and Silver Diamond Club members.

Making a booking

A Routepass book of tickets can only be booked and purchased 14 days or less prior to the first date of travel.

For an individual Routepass please use the following steps:-

  1. Simply complete a reservation in the appropriate class (C or Y) as normal.
  2. Then add the additional sectors ensuring that the last sector has a date which is 4 months from the original date of travel of the first sector. This will ensure that the PNR remains live.
  3. Continue with the normal booking process by pricing the Routepass - get the base fare from a fare display. Then calculate the taxes from a Fare quote request - please note that the taxes may need some modifications to be made but it should calculate the x5 returns.
  4. Add the form of payment details.
  5. Issue an electronic ticket.
  6. Any subsequent flights must be added into the original PNR to ensure that the e-ticket remains in sync with the booking. It is therefore imperative that a record of the original PNR is kept and utilised when booking the remaining sectors. This will enable the passenger to enjoy all the benefits of electronic tickets (online check-in, lounge access, etc). You must remember that if you add a sector in to replace an open sector then you must remember to cancel off the open sector to avoid having more than the 10 sectors showing in the PNR.
  7. When using a sector of the Routepass please ensure that you then revalidate the e-ticket at the same time and to use the sectors in sequence to ensure that the correct ticket number from the range is revalidated.

For a company Routepass, enter Mr/Ms in the name field and enter the company name in the endorsements box. Complete the flight details as normal. Then call the bmi trade helpline on 0870 60 6 1000 to complete the booking and arrange paper tickets. Tickets will be ready for collection at the airport unless requested otherwise. Once the tickets have been received, reservations for subsequent flights can be made through your own system or via the bmi sales centre.

Payment is for the whole amount and can be made by credit card (the company must be advised that their credit card no. will appear on every ticket) or via a BSPlink vMPD.

Booking classes

Tickets are fully flexible and are booked in C class for the business option and Y class for the economy option - allowing maximum availability on a particular flight.
