GDS help

GDS code of conduct

bmi is charged a fee by the GDS providers for every passenger sector booked at your agency, either actively or passively.

For this reason we ask you to follow the guidelines on correct CRS usage. This ensures that fees are not re-charged to your travel agency.

general guidelines

Please avoid the following:

  • Holding space under speculative names or TBA/NTBA
  • Making excessive reservations/waitlists for the same passenger
  • Booking multiple confirmed bookings for the same flight, same day or multiple bookings same day different flights
  • Booking group space through the system - always telephone bmi group sales on 01332 854500
  • Please ensure the correct booking class is used according to the fare quoted
  • Please remove from the PNR any inactive segments, for example UN UC HX NO
  • Ensure you release all unwanted reservations or waitlists
  • Ensure ticketed classes match those booked
  • Regularly work your queues and ensure that all status codes are actioned accordingly
  • Please ensure any TK (timing change) messages are confirmed changing the status to MK and any UN, WK, UC are cancelled
  • If your agency uses more than one CRS, ensure you always book and ticket from the same CRS/GDS.

passive bookings
Passive bookings should only be used in the following circumstances and when it is not possible to use the live PNR:

  • When ticketing reservations made directly with BD
  • When ticketing on behalf of another agent
  • When ticketing for groups.

All information must match the BD held booking.

Do not create passive bookings for productivity or administrative purposes.

If you wish to create a passive segment for any reason other than driving a ticket, please ensure you use a non-billable segment as shown below.

group bookings

name changes
Name change restrictions are in place for classes K,L,Q,V,W. Amendments may be made to initial and title only. Any other additional name changes after the booking has been ended will cancel the PNR.

Exceptional requests for name change in Galileo can be made via the servicing terminal. The entry for this is QEB/XBD/6.

All other CRS name changes are made through the travel trade helpline on 0870 606 1000 (UK) or 01 407 3036 (ROI).

ticket time limit
On creation of new BD bookings, the system will advise your CRS of the ticketing deadline, if appropriate. The BD booking will subsequently be cancelled should a ticket number not be included in the reservation by the specified date.

Dependant on your CRS, the ticketing time limit messages you will see are shown below:
