domestic services: infants who have not yet reached their 2nd birthday are carried free of charge.
international services: infants who have not yet reached their 2nd birthday are carried at 10% of the adult fare.
The infant may not occupy a passenger seat and must travel on the parent’s lap. Only one infant may be carried per adult passenger and the infants are not entitled to free baggage allowance except when their journey forms part of an international journey to destinations such as the USA and Canada.
Additional infants must occupy a car seat, which must be provided by the passenger with the appropriate child fare being paid in each case.
accompanied children have no restrictions provided the fare charges are 50% or 67% of the applicable adult fare and depending on the fare rules for the journey undertaken. No child discounts on certain fares
unaccompanied children from 5 – 11 years inclusive may be accepted under the rules of unaccompanied minors (UNMR). They must be escorted to and from the airports by the adults nominated in an UNMR forms by the parent or guardian. A UNMR form must be completed in advance of travel.
UNMR forms
bmi charge a mandatory supervision fee of GBP 35 or equivalent per direction for this service.
Children under six years may only be accepted for travel if the parent or guardian pays for the return airfare of a staff member to travel with the child.
Only a certain number of UNMR’s are allowed on each aircraft type. Please check with bmi to ensure that the maximum number has not been already booked.

The PNR need to be created with essential fields:
**The Name Field should include the child/s first name
**APFAX item giving the child/s Age
**Remarks giving the Escorts Name, Address and contact Tel. Number.
Children carried at discount rates receive the full adult free baggage allowance. Any excess is assessed at the full adult rate. Discounts for children apply to special fares unless otherwise stated under the specific fare notes.
Parents/Guardians of 12 to15 year-olds can use an unaccompanied supervisor service offered by bmi for GBP 35 or equivalent per sector.
MAAS is a limited service, with staff advising the passenger in basic matters such as ‘where to go next’. It is useful for advising people not use to airports or travelling alone.
Staff do not stay with the passenger nor take them through the whole process.
Young persons between the ages of 12 and 21 years at the time of travel may be carried at 75% of the executive fare, except on flights to and from Paris.
For services ex-Germany, the age range is 12 – 24 years.
On flights to/ from Jersey each young person accompanied by one adult is carried at 75% of the appropriate fare. If travelling alone to Jersey the 75% discount is only available for the executive fare. Tickets must be endorsed with the date of birth as supported by a birth certificate or passport.
For fares involving other international carriers, check the air tariff to make sure the youth discounts are recognised.
Parents/Guardians can use the bmi unaccompanied supervisor service offered for 12 to 15 year–olds.
Students between the ages of 22 and 25 years at the time of travel who are pursuing for at lease one academic year a full time educational / vocational / technical or nurses training course and are travelling between home and educational establishments, may be carried at 75% of the executive fare.
Proof of eligibility in the form of a Student Certificate signed by the principal official of the school or college where the student is studying must be completed before ticket issue.
Available on international journeys when a husband and wife, or common-law husband and wife, are travelling together. One must pay the executive return fare, the other pays 50% of the executive return fare. The return must be within one month.
Both passengers must travel on the same flights for the outbound and inbound journeys. Common-law spouses may be asked to supply evidence of status such as a joint bank statement.
