How to earn miles

What are miles?
Whenever you travel on qualifying fares* with bmi, or any other Star Alliance member airline, you'll earn both membership status and destinations miles. Membership status miles are valid for 12 months and are simply used to determine your level of membership. Destinations miles are the ones you can spend on rewards.
* Qualifying fares include bmi published fares in Business and Economy cabins, and corporate fares.

How do I earn miles?
Earning miles couldn't be easier. All you need to do is quote your membership number when you make your booking or flight reservation and then show your card when you check in. When flying, please remember to show your card on both your outbound and return journey. We'll then credit the miles to your account (please allow 7 days when you fly with us and 28 when you fly with our partners).Please be aware that miles are not awarded for codeshare flights operated by non Diamond Club partners

Who can I earn miles with?
In addition to flights with bmi, we have numerous partners you can also earn destinations miles with, or indeed if you have a bmi credit card. To see who you can earn miles with, please refer to the Diamond Club partner tables below.

How many miles will I earn?

The number of miles you will earn on qualifying fares depends on who you fly with and where you fly to. The simplest way to see how miles are awarded is to check out the "earning miles when you fly" table below. Every time you fly with bmi or a Star Alliance member airline on a qualifying fare you'll earn both membership status and destinations miles. With bmibaby, Virgin Atlantic, Qatar Airways and Transaero Airlines you'll earn destinations miles for each qualifying one-way flight. When travelling with Transaero Airlines from London Heathrow to Moscow, you will also earn membership status miles. Please note that to be eligible for earning miles, a flight must be operated by bmi or one of our airline partners.

All bmi UK domestic flights and partner flights of less than 600 miles in distance 600 miles earned for each one way
All bmi non UK domestic flights of less than 800 miles in distance 800 miles earned for each one way
All bmi flights of more than 800 miles in distance and non bmi flights of more than 600 miles in distance travelled 1 mile earned for each mile travelled
To calculate the total miles you'll earn for your flight, simply multiply the above miles by the factors shown below depending on the type of ticket you're travelling on. Please note the miles you earn depends on the airline operating the flight. In the case of codeshare flights with partner airlines, the operating carriers' miles earning structure will apply.

Please note that miles will normally be credited within 1-2 days of your flight when travelling on Transaero routes to/from Moscow. All other Transaero operated routes may take 1-2 weeks for crediting of miles.

You can also earn destinations miles for every flight you buy with bmibaby. You'll earn destinations miles depending on the price you pay for your flight, using the simple miles earning structure below.

Please note the flight prices above are for one-way flights including taxes and do not include extras such as insurance, car parking and lounge access. Destinations miles will only be earned for flights that you take as a member, not the full cost of the booking.

It's important to add your Diamond Club membership number when you make your flight booking at bmibaby.com, as currently it's not possible to add it after you have booked.

Please note that our partnership qith bmibaby only relates to earning and spending destinations miles. Additional benefits associated with Star Alliance member airlines such as membership status miles, lounge access, priority check-in and extra baggage allowance will not apply when travelling on bmibaby.

a) Hotel partners
1000 destinations miles will be earned when staying at a partner hotel.

This includes all of the following hotels:
  • Hilton Hotels *(at all participating Hilton Honours Hotels) including Hilton, Conrad, Doubletree, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hampton Inn and Suites, Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites, Hilton Grand vacations and The Waldorf Astoria Collection.

In addition to earning miles when you stay at a partner hotel you can also earn destinations miles when you book your hotel and flight + hotel package online at flybmi.com.

You will earn destinations miles as follows:

Car rental partner
When you rent a car with Hertz, you'll earn destinations miles. Simply make your booking online at flybmi.com or telephone 0870 844 4 844 quoting your membership number, then present your Diamond Club card when you collect your vehicle.

Who can I earn miles with?

Online shopping
You can now shop online at a wide range of stores and earn miles. There are over 120 online stores to choose from, ranging from ladies clothing to computers, sports equipment to flowers and gifts. All you need to do is sign into your Diamond Club account and follow the links for online shopping.

Plus you can also buy miles for you and a friend to top up your destinations miles balance.

American Express
If you're a member of the American Express Membership Reward Programme, you can transfer your membership rewards points into Diamond Club destinations miles, bringing you free flights and other rewards faster than ever before.

NCP
NCP offer a wide range of parking locations where you can take advantage of fantastic parking discounts and earn destinations miles. You'll earn 10 destinations miles for every £1 you spend.

Plus you can also benefit from bonus destinations miles on valet parking at London Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester. You'll earn 450 destinations miles at Birmingham and Manchester and 750 destinations miles at London Heathrow for every booking made.

To book parking with NCP, simply visit flybmi.com where you'll see the "parking" tab in the booking area. You can earn destinations miles simply by entering your Diamond Club number when making your booking online.
