Arriving in Lyon

Once you land at Lyon Airport, trains run regularly from the airport's TGV station to take you onwards. Buses travel to the main cities of Rhône-Alpes and the centre of Lyon or, head to the taxi rank, located at the front of Terminal 1.

Tasting the best wine and cuisine

Surrounded by the picturesque Rhône and Saône rivers, Lyon is also touched by two of France's best known wine-growing regions; Beaujolais to the North, and the Côtes du Rhône to the South. The many  fine chefs based here have earned the city its reputation as the centre of gastronomic excellence. When dining in Lyon, you're simply spoilt for choice. For an evening to remember, make reservations at Paul Bocuse, Auberge du Pont de Collonges. It's truly delicious and authentic French cuisine, delivered in elegant and formal surroundings, with the impeccable staff ensuring that service is of the very highest standard.

Staying in Luxury

For a taste of luxury, stay at the 4-star Hotel de la Cite Concorde. Located just outside the city (a short taxi ride away) it's a haven of peace and quiet after a hectic day. With supremely comfortable rooms and friendly, efficient staff, it's the ideal choice for business travellers. For more central accommodation, look at the Hotel La Residence. Located on Rue Victor Hugo (one of the main pedestrianised shopping streets just off the beautiful Place Bellecour), it's close to the metro and within walking distance of the main attractions.

If you're a film buff then you'll be interested to know that the Lumière brothers invented cinema in the town in 1895. Find out more at the Musée Lumière, where you can even see some of their first inventions.
