At the airport

Hannover airport has many transport options for your onward journey. Whether you're heading to Expo Plaza or hitting the city centre, there are taxis, buses, trains and shuttles to get you there. Buses and trains (S-bahn) leave from Terminal 3 and are frequent and efficient. Pick up a taxi right outside Arrivals - the journey takes around 20 minutes and costs approximately €25.

What to do while you’re there

The heart of the city is Kröpcke. Great for shopping, dining and entertainment, you'll find everything you need. See a performance at the Opera House or, if you plan to travel onward, the main train station in is also located in this area.

The site of the former EXPO2000, Expo Plaza is an extremely popular exhibition venue and thousands travel to Hannover to attend events, concerts and fairs here. If you're visiting on business or to attend an exhibition, stay at the modern 4-star Radisson Blu Hotel perfectly located next to the Plaza. With professional and efficient staff and free wi-fi, as well as spacious and airy rooms it's also very reasonably priced. If you're on a budget then choose the low-price Park Inn. It's very comfortable with an excellent restaurant. The tram stop is right outside to take you straight to the centre of town, approximately 5 miles away.

Plan a trip over Christmas

Visit at Christmas for a truly magical experience. Winter sees the famous Weihnachtsmarkt, starting at the end of November and finishing just before Christmas. Have a mug of delicious, warming Glühwein and sample the smoked salmon and herring as you browse the wonderful traditional stalls. Or visit Hannover Zoo to see the animals and to see the ice shows and skating.

For a brilliant spring break, visit in April for the annual Frühlingfest. With lots of fairground rides and stalls and it's great fun.

Call in at the Markthalle for a wonderful variety of fresh food, such as authentic Spanish tapas, fresh fish and meats. Or, for a taste of Germany, head to a Wurst-Basar stall for a sublime variety of tasty sausages - there are stalls at the train station and Kröpcke.

Hannover is the perfect destination for a festive break or just to sample the scrumptious German delicacies. Book with bmi today and you'll soon be hanging out in Hannover.
