It was erected in 1995 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the municipality. The harbour is a wonderful. If you're visiting during the summer, go on a seal safari where you can get up close to the friendly seals and spot the different species of birds. Or, take a short drive out to the countryside; the Marbæk Plantation is delightful with its rich fauna and lakes, cliffs, beaches and wildlife.
Visit the original Legoland in Billund, about an hours' drive from Esbjerg. With Miniland, Legoredo Town, Knights Kingdom and Pirate Land there's loads for the kids to do and it's a fabulous day out.
