Paperless mobile boarding

What is Paperless Boarding/'send to mobile'?
Paperless Boarding is a facility which allows you to send your boarding pass directly to your mobile phone. The boarding pass is delivered using SMS (also known as 'Short Message Service'). A text message will arrive in your mobile phone's message inbox and will contain a link to download your boarding pass.

Please note: You will need an internet enabled mobile phone to access the barcode that you will need to provide at the airport. 

What kind of phone do I need to receive the boarding pass?
A mobile phone capable of receiving SMS messages and is also internet enabled. If you are unsure if you have this facility, you can check with your mobile network provider.

How should I enter my mobile phone number?
Enter your mobile number using the country code (eg 44 for the UK)  plus your mobile number, with no spaces. For example, for a UK mobile number you would enter: 447XXXXXXXXX. You will not be charged for this service.

Can I still drop off hold bags?
Yes, simply go to the fast bag drop and have your phone ready with the barcode displayed.
 
What do I show to get through security?
When approaching the ticket presentation at security, please have the barcode on your phone ready. You will be required to hand your phone to the security guard for scanning. 

Do I need to show my phone at the gate?
Yes, your mobile phone should be ready with the barcode displayed. At some airports, you may be given a 'boarding receipt'. 

Do I need to show my phone to the cabin staff?
Yes, simply have your phone ready with your boarding pass displayed.  If you have been given a 'boarding receipt' you should show this to the cabin crew.

What happens if I accidentally delete my boarding pass message?
Please see a bmi representative at the airport, who will be able to print out a paper boarding pass for you.

What happens if the battery goes flat on my phone?
Please see a bmi representative at the airport, who will be able to print out a paper boarding pass for you.

Can I still gain lounge access?
Yes, if your ticket is valid for lounge access, just show your boarding pass message as you would a normal boarding card.

What information is contained in the message?
A link to your name, flight number, route, date, flight sector, seat number, boarding number (SEQ), class of travel and ticket fare basis code, frequent flyer number (FQTV), followed by the bar code image.
