Vigeland Sculpture Park (Kirkeveien): This extraordinary park is the life's work of mysterious Norwegian artist Gustav Vigeland, who produced more than 200 large figures in bronze and granite and designed this city centre park to house them. It's always open and free to enter.

Viking Ships Museum

At Oslo's Viking Ships Museum you'll see the Norsemen's famous wooden longships close up, plus one of the world's best collections of Viking artefacts, which were found in tombs around Oslo Fiord. Look for fabulously carved wooden carts, sledges and bedposts, too.

Helmenkollen Ski Jump Tower

Helmenkollen Ski Jump Tower is a landmark on a hill in the northern suburbs. It's Norway's most visited attraction with a historic ski museum and ski simulators. Climb up the scary 180ft-high ramp and you'll be rewarded with great views across the city to the fiord.
