Health and Safety

EU citizens should apply for a European Health Insurance Card before departure, which entitles them to free or reduced cost treatment in all EU countries. This only covers emergency treatment so comprehensive travel and medical insurance are strongly advised.

Flights to Lyon arrive at Lyon Saint Exupery Airport 16 miles east of the city centre. Satobuses run from the airport to Part Dieu and Perrache rail stations every 20 minutes, taking around 50 minutes and costing €8.60. A taxi costs from €38 to €58 depending on which area of Lyon you are travelling to.

Centre d'Histoire de la Résistance et de la Déportation Discover the importance of Lyon's Resistance in World War II at this moving exhibition, housed in the city's former Gestapo headquarters. Afterwards, explore the many traboules (secret passages) used by the Resistance to evade the occupiers. If you head to 54 Rue Saint Jean in Vieux Lyon you can walk down one of the longest, which comes out at 27 Rue du Boeuf.
