Men Meets The Sea

Man Meets the Sea: Esbjerg's 100th anniversary was marked by the raising of Svend Wiig Hansen's impressive sculpture. Four nine-metre tall figures look solemnly out into the Wadden Sea, creating a serene and poignant tribute to the city. It's a popular spot for locals as well as tourists, with space to sit and reflect, as well as great photo opportunities.

Fisheries and Maritime Museum

Fisheries and Maritime Museum: More of a living aquarium than a traditional museum, this oceanic playground has some of the water's most unusual residents, with octopi, eels, rays and all manner of fish in the aquarium exhibits. Other highlights include a sealarium, with local spotted and grey seals, and a Shipping area dedicated to the history of the local shipbuilding industry, which dates back to the Viking era.

Esbjerg Art Museum

Esbjerg Art Museum: This well-presented museum is home to 800 works, and showcases many Danish artists from the 1920s to present day. Their two novelties are an open warehouse to make the collections even more accessible to the public, and an ‘aesthetics laboratory', where visitors can enjoy some interactive artistic exploration.
