Please be aware that the hand and hold baggage allowance offered by our flight partners may differ from the bmi allowances shown on our website. This also applies to baggage charges.

For the specific terms and conditions of bmi’s flight partners, or any other airline sold on flybmi.com, please visit the operating carrier's website directly.

Flights To and From the U.S. and Canada

We have partnerships with other operating carriers to offer you a wider variety of destinations to visit worldwide.  Even if you made your booking direct with bmi, one or more of your flights may be operated by another airline.

If you’re travelling to the U.S., your booking may consist of flights with one or more of the following operating partners:

  • United
  • Continental Airlines
  • Virgin Atlantic
  • Air Canada
  • Air New Zealand

Please be aware that the hand and hold baggage allowance offered by our flight partners may differ from the bmi allowances shown on our website.

Passengers who purchase travel on a flight with another airline may be subject to the baggage policy and other terms and conditions of the airline operating the first flight in their itinerary.

If your itinerary includes travel to or from the U.S. on a flight not operated by bmi, the baggage policy of the airline operating thefirst flight in your itinerary may apply to all flights until you reach your destination. For example:

Scenario 1 - Travel between Edinburgh and Chicago, IL. via London Heathrow:

  • Edinburgh to London Heathrow – flight operated by bmi
  • London Heathrow to Chicago, IL. – flight operated by United

In this case, the baggage rules of bmi apply.

Scenario 2 - Travel between Houston, TX. and Aberdeen via London Heathrow:

  • Houston, TX. to London Heathrow – flight operated by Continental Airlines
  • London Heathrow to Aberdeen – flight operated by bmi

The baggage rules of Continental Airlines apply.

For further guidance, please refer to the information below. The allowances listed below are subject to change. For the specific terms and conditions of bmi’s flight partners, or any other airline sold on flybmi.com, please visit the operating carrier's website directly.
