Once you've earned 16,000 membership status miles your membership will be upgraded to Silver.

In addition you also receive Star Alliance Silver status, which gives you priority on reservation waiting lists and airport standby lists with all Star Alliance airlines.
All the above airport benefits are available to Silver members when travelling with bmi. The only exception to this is if purchasing a shorthaul Economy Saver fare.
Once you earn 16,000 status miles you automatically receive Silver membership. You'll then notice your account is reset to zero miles, and your new membership year begins. You have 12 months to retain your Silver status by earning 16,000 status miles or you can work your way to Gold status by earning 38,000 status miles.
*when travelling on a bmi flight, lounge access is not available when travelling on a shorthaul Economy Saver fare.
