New look Terminal 1

This year sees the arrival of a new look for Terminal 1 (T1) at London Heathrow, including enhanced bmi facilities. You may have already noticed that work has already started in a number of areas, including the main terminal, flight connections centre and baggage halls. With a completion date of March 2009, this exciting development is a great opportunity for bmi to further develop its facilities at one of the world's busiest airports.
As a bmi customer, your entire experience at T1 will be smoother and quicker, starting with a redesigned departures concourse, where our Self Check-in Machines will be laid out in a way to minimise queuing and help make your journey through the terminal as smooth as possible. Eighteen new Check-in Desks/Bag Drops will be open by November 2008, and a new Premium Check-in area and Bag Drop Facility will open in February 2009. Alongside these developments, October 2008 will see our Ticket Desk move to a new purpose-built facility close to the new Check-in Desks.
The bmi International Lounge will move from its current location at Gate 14 to a new lounge area at Gate 5. For our Gold Diamond Club members travelling longhaul, the opening of a new Star Alliance departures lounge in June 2008 will introduce even greater flexibility to your choice of facility for unwinding and relaxing before a flight.
Customers arriving into T1 will see the benefit of these developments as well - with the installation of a new baggage belt, the construction of new baggage services desks and a redecoration of the entire baggage hall. For our eligible customers who are familiar with the arrivals lounge, April will see the opening of a brand-new Star Alliance arrivals lounge where you can shower and enjoy a light meal before leaving the terminal.
Further updates about these exciting developments will be available soon.
