Flights to Aberdeen arrive at Aberdeen Dyce airport (Dyce, 00 44 870 040 0006) seven miles from the city centre. Bus 27 runs from the airport to Guild Street railway station in the city centre at regular intervals, taking 45 minutes and costing £1.80. Taxis cost around £18.

The Old Town

The old town: This compact medieval area contains wonderful buildings such as Kings College, with its famous quadrangle, St Machars Cathedral and the Marischal Museum housed within Marischal college, the world's second largest granite building. Frances Walker: A Place Observed in Solitude

A founding member of Peacock Printmakers, Scottish artist Frances Walker has been producing prints for the past four decades.
