Martini Tower

Martini Tower (corner of Grote Markt): The leading tourist attraction of Groningen, the tower is part of the Martini Church, the Martinkerk, which contains dramatic wall and roof paintings and an important icon, it offers great views of the city from the top.

Groningen Museum

Groningen Museum: A splendid example of contemporary architecture with colourful linked pavilions, the museum contains one of the best collections of modern and abstract art in Holland.  Be sure to try one of the lush cakes shaped like the museum in its café. Groningen has other museums too, including the notable Science Museum, and the at times risqué but hugely fun Dutch Comic Strip Museum .

Grote Markt

Grote Markt (city centre): With its neo-classical town hall, the Grote Markt is the heart of Groningen and it is from here you can explore the city's marketplaces and shops or take a guided heritage tour. Choose from a canalside walk, city or an architectural walk, plus a popular walk that takes in visits to restaurants to see how local dishes are prepared.
