Flights to Naples land at

Alibus
shuttles run every 30 minutes, take about 20 minutes and cost just €3. Taxis are quicker but cost €25. Much of the centre is walkable but there's also a subway, quirky underground funicular system plus tram and bus networks. Ferries to the islands, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast leave from Porto Beverello in front of Castel Nuovo.

(Piazza Museo 19) one of Europe's best collections of ancient history. Anything portable from Pompeii's excavations was brought to this grand old palace. You'll wander through huge halls stuffed with stunning statues, jewels and even Roman erotica.
