Flights to Hanover arrive at Hanover airport, situated nine miles north of the city centre. Local trains (€2.70) run every 30 minutes direct from the airport station to Hanover main station with journey times of 18 minutes. Taxis to the city centre and main business districts costs from €25.

Herrenhäuser Gardens

Hop on metro trains U4 or U5 to Herrenhäuser Gärten and head straight for the stylish baroque Grosser Garten where you can explore a 50-hectare landscape of horticultural delights. New Town Hall

New Town Hall (2 Trammplatz): Hanover's greatest modern architectural landmark is situated just south of the city centre. It warrants a look, and don't miss a ride on the strangely curved lift that will whisk you 50 metres up to the top of a dome for views that, on good days, extend to the Harz Mountains.
