Flights to Lyon arrive at Lyon Saint Exupery Airport 16 miles east of the city centre. Satobuses run from the airport to Part Dieu and Perrache rail stations every 20 minutes, taking around 50 minutes and costing €8.60. A taxi costs from €38 to €58 depending on which area of Lyon you are travelling to.

Centre d'Histoire de la Résistance et de la Déportation Discover the importance of Lyon's Resistance in World War II at this moving exhibition, housed in the city's former Gestapo headquarters. Afterwards, explore the many traboules (secret passages) used by the Resistance to evade the occupiers. If you head to 54 Rue Saint Jean in Vieux Lyon you can walk down one of the longest, which comes out at 27 Rue du Boeuf.

International New Generation Film Festival

Dedicated entirely to digital film, this is one event with its finger firmly on the pulse, the festival has been gaining recognition for its serious cinematic approach over the last few outings. Festival of Short Shorts

A film festival with a focus on very short shorts, the judges at ‘Trescourt’ only accept films lasting three minutes or less - and that’s including the title and credits. Films are apparently chosen for, and we quote, ‘their boldness, sense of humor and bad taste’ so expect a mixed bag. Featuring entries from over 70 countries this short, but sweet festival is definitely worth a look.
