Paperless boarding

What is Paperless Boarding/'send to mobile'?
This is a new facility which allows you to send your boarding pass directly to your mobile phone or PDA.  The boarding pass is delivered using MMS (also known as 'Picture Messaging').  The boarding pass will arrive in your mobile phone's message inbox and consists of text details of your flight plus an animated barcode which is used at the airport.

What kind of phone do I need to receive the boarding pass?
A mobile phone capable of receiving MMS messages.  If you are unsure if you have this facility, the easiest way to check is to take a picture using your phone's camera and send it to your own number. If you need to set up MMS on your phone, contact your network provider.

How should I enter my mobile phone number?
Enter your mobile number using the country code (eg 44 for the UK)  plus your mobile number, with no spaces.  For example, for a UK mobile number you would enter: 447XXXXXXXXX.

Can I still drop off hold bags?
Yes, simply go to the fast bag drop and have your phone ready with the barcode displayed.

What do I show to get through security?
When approaching the ticket presentation at security, please have the barcode on your phone ready. You will be required to hand your phone to the security guard for scanning.

Do I need to show my phone at the gate?
Yes, your mobile phone should be ready with the barcode displayed.  At some airports, you may be given a 'boarding receipt'.

Do I need to show my phone to the cabin staff?
Yes, simply have your phone ready with the text summary of your boarding pass displayed.  If you have been given a 'boarding receipt' you should show this to the cabin crew.

What happens if I accidentally delete my boarding pass message?
Please see a bmi representative at the airport, who will be able to print out a paper boarding pass for you.

What happens if the battery goes flat on my phone?
Please see a bmi representative at the airport, who will be able to print out a paper boarding pass for you.

Can I still gain lounge access?
