Wireless internet access (wi-fi) is available in our lounges across the network. We already have wi-fi at Aberdeen, Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Heathrow and Manchester, with plans to introduce it into our other lounges in the UK in the near future.
You can use our lounge to catch up on email and access the internet at broadband speeds from anywhere within the lounge.
All you need is a wi-fi enabled handheld or laptop. There is usually no need to install any additional software, and by simply using your existing browser and buying access time you can:
- Use wi-fi to gain instant internet and email connectivity from your own laptop or PDA wire-free
- Login to your company intranet and access your company computer system
- Download files at broadband speed
- Catch up on emails
- Surf the web cost effectively

How do I access a bmi wi-fi hotspot?
When in a bmi lounge location where wi-fi is available, set the SSID (network identifier) on your device to that of the provider (some wireless enabled laptops or PDA's detect this automatically). Launch your internet browser. Then login or sign up for the service.
Can I access my corporate network?
Most organisations insist on the use of additional security, which may require extra software installed on your laptop or PDA. Typically this would be VPN (Virtual Private Network) and/or Firewall software - your IT department will be able to advise you.
How much does it cost?
There are several ways you can pay. The best will depend on how much you use the service. You can choose to be charged for the time you spend online, or pay set charges for fixed amounts of time online or unlimited use.
How secure is the connection?
bmi hotspots provide an open connection to the internet in the same way as other access services such as DSL and cable. We recommend you use whatever additional security measures you have available, including virtual private networks, encryption and personal firewalls, to ensure peace of mind.
