RSS feeds

What are RSS Feeds?

RSS Feeds allow you to have up to date relevant content delivered to you rather than having to go and find it. It is used for all kinds of reasons from worldwide news stories to personal blogs.

There is much debate about what RSS stands for but many settle on 'Really Simple Syndication'. Put simply, RSS feeds are an easy way for individuals or organisations to distribute information across the site. One thing to keep in mind however, is the feeds themselves that are used are designed to be read by computers rather than people.

Why use RSS feeds with bmi?

Our RSS feeds simply enable you to have information, like our current lowest fares, delivered to you. Allowing you to have everything on the web that is important to you delivered to one place.

How can you start to use feeds with bmi?

We have RSS feeds located across the site which will allow you to use the information on that page and deliver it to your site.

By using these links you can add the information in different ways.

If you already use RSS readers, such as; Google, Yahoo or Hotmail, you can simply add the link to those readers and the information will be delivered to you automatically. Alternatively, depending on which web browser you are using, you can open the link and use the ‘subscribe to this feed' tool where you will be given the option to add the feed to relevant readers.

If you do not use RSS readers, don't worry, you can easily download one. A RSS feed reader is the software that checks and displays the feeds and lets you read any new information that have been added. Readers do work differently on all systems so you will need to pick one that will work best with your computer. Each news reader will explain how to set up feeds with them as they all may differ slightly. Some main downloadable readers include Google, Yahoo, Hotmail and Bloglines.
