- bmi British Midland International’s Diamond Club sponsors the most expensive garden ever at the Chelsea Flower Show
The most expensive garden in British horticultural history has been unveiled at the Chelsea Flower Show. Created by leading garden designer David Domoney and sponsored by bmi, British Midland International’s Diamond Club frequent flyer programme, the garden is the most expensive ever created at Chelsea with £20 million worth of gems from the extraordinary Bond Street jeweller LEVIEV, the world’s most exclusive jewellery brand.
The garden features a range of rare gems including a peony shaped ring with pink and green gems valued at approximately £1 million and a daisy shaped ring set with a rare, flawless blue diamond worth in the region of £3.2 million. Whilst the walls of the garden have precious stones embedded in them, other features include diamond themed stepping stones that lead to a gems-themed patio, giving a bird’s eye view of a necklace.
Domoney is a leading TV garden expert who has in the past created several gardens at Chelsea including The Da Vinci Garden, the Piranha infested Biotopes and the Ace of Spades Bikers Garden. He has a unique approach to gardening feeding his plants vodka, bananas, eggs, beer, aspirin and even Viagra!
Domoney has selected 22 jewel themed or named plants including ‘Hosta Diamond Tiara’, ‘Juniperus Emerald Spreader’ and ‘Pulmonaria Opal’.
The garden will have more security than any other show garden in the world.
To celebrate its involvement with the world’s most famous flower show and for those that sign up to bmi’s frequent flyer programme at the show, bmi is offering one lucky winner a prize of a million miles in their new Diamond Club account.
Katherine Gershon, bmi sales and marketing director, said: "Diamonds will be everyone's best friend with this spectacular garden designed by David Domoney. It reflects bmi's passion for sparkling service and top quality. With a million miles up for grabs, we're confident the Ace of Diamonds will be the most popular garden at this year's Show."
